Savannah, GA - Josephine Isabelle Hadwin Tuten, 82, born January 16, 1925, went to be with the Lord on Monday, April 30, 2007, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Furman, SC but has lived in Savannah most of her life. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a housewife and enjoyed handcrafts, cooking, gardening, and bird watching.
She was baptized at Furman Baptist church in Furman, SC. She was a former member of Calvary Baptist Church in Savannah and a faithful member of Ridgeland Baptist Church in Ridgeland, SC. She frequently attended Okatie Baptist Church in Okatie, SC. She was a member of the Mary Heyward Eastern Star Chapter 124 in Ridgeland, SC and held the office of Martha.
Her parents were the late Tinnie Idell Smith Hadwin and Henry H, Hadwin. She was preceded in death by two children, Winfred Murray Tuten and Joy Anna Tuten.
Surviving are her loving and devoted husband of sixty-three years, Winfred Mikler Tuten, a daughter, Elaine Josephine Tuten Wilson, a son-in-law, James Thomas Wilson, Sr., two grandsons, James Thomas Wilson, Jr., and Seth Allen Wilson, Sr., three great-grandsons, James Thomas Wilson III, Seth Allen Wilson, Jr., and Jacob Blake Wilson. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
She was loved by all who knew her and will be truly missed by everyone.
Visitation is at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel, on Wednesday, May 2, 2007, from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 3, 2007, at 11:00 a.m. at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel.
Interment will follow in the Greenwich Section of Bonaventure Cemetery.
